- Introduction :
Mugana Solar system teaching device is a unique teaching aid used to educate students about
solar system in the subjects of Geography and Physics for the concepts related to Astronomy.
There is a set of three devices (models) which can be easily assembled and disassembled for
storage and transportation. There is also a user manual (English & Kiswahili version) -
Background :
Educating students about planetary science can be difficult. Standard models may be stationary
and unable to rotate and revolve hence simulation effects will be nearly impossible and force
students to use their imagination about astronomic concepts and lacking knowledge. Therefore a
suitable solution is desired whereby devices should be manufactured and distributed to schools. -
Solution Provided :
This device can demonstrate the following concepts:
Sun, Planets, Moon, Planetary motion (Rotation & Revolution), Three Kepler’s law, Elliptic,
oblique[tilt] and procession motion), Perihelion & Aphelion, Apogee & Perigee, Solar and Lunar
eclipses, Four seasons of the year (Winter/Summer/Spring/Autumn), Moon phases, Constellation,
Meridians, Time zone, and other concepts of physics like mechanics, friction, bearings, electric
current, switches, light, electronics, RF, etc. - Ongoing Innovation , Research & Development (R&D):
Integration of a REAL TIME MODE, IOT and APPs/Artificial Intelligence ~ AI.
Integration of WEATHER STATION SENSORS, IOT and APPs/AI.
