Description
Astronomy as a field in Botswana is still in its infancy and developing interests in Astronomy is crucial for the development of Astronomy. Schools outreach can be used to increase the interest of the teachers and students in Astronomy and also enhance the interest of young people in appreciating and studying Astronomy-related courses at University. Outreach is an important tool for reaffirming the critical importance of science. This presentation will center on previous and ongoing outreach initiatives designed to involve the students in astronomical exploration. In the last eight months, the Botswana team, in collaboration with the Botswana International University of Science and Technology, has organized diverse astronomy outreach events, encompassing teacher training, school visits, stargazing sessions, and more.
