Description

The Space Science and Geospatial Institute (SSGI) is an Ethiopian government institute that promotes space research and technology. By improving the skills and capabilities of Ethiopian scientists and engineers, developing international cooperation, and boosting public awareness, SSGI contributes significantly to the country's space exploration and research foundation.
SSGI's initiatives include hosting seminars, conferences, training programs, and public outreach events that draw attention and provide participants with practical expertise. Through these activities, SSGI bridges the gap between research and public knowledge, emphasizing the significance of space science and technology in addressing social concerns and generating innovation.
Astronomy & Astrophysics at SSGI is a strong department dedicated to inspiring and teaching the public about Astronomy and the amazing power of the universe. This department by using telescopes hosts stargazing programs to promotes understanding of the night sky and STEM activites. By developing a network of enthusiastic amateur astronomers, the program creates an inclusive platform for primary, secondary schools and people from every aspect of society to explore the universe and share their excitement for astronomy.
The SSGI's many programs not only help to develop Ethiopia's scientific and technological capabilities, but also to develop a culture of curiosity and discovery. Together, these initiatives hope to inspire the future generation of scientists and astronomers while also establishing Ethiopia as an active member of the global space research community.
